Tony Hanway

Tony Hanway ATCL

(Associate Trinity College London)

I studied music at the College of Music in Dublin and I worked as a professional musician and music teacher for twenty-five years. I have also worked in TV, Radio, Recording studios, Video editing and live performances all over Ireland. Although I studied classical music in college I also play many other styles of music including traditional and modern.

I became involved in church music a number of years ago when I was asked to arrange some music for a parish in Kildare and my music ministry has grown ever since. I am currently writing and recording some new music set to scripture. My latest piece is called “ In God I find my Strength”, the words of which are taken from Psalm 62/63. I plan to continue arranging and recording our wonderful old hymns and also composing some new ones too.

I am married to Tony for past twenty-six years now and we have five children ranging from eight to twenty-five years old. I began playing church music in my late twenties and now I play piano accompanied by my Husband on the pipe organ.

I continue to study scripture with Frances Hogan. Studying scripture has given me a deeper understanding of the Mass and liturgy and has helped both myself and Tony with our music ministry.
